The page below contains five pictures that will better explain
how we created our thermoforms.
First, to create our thermoforms we placed our Stereolithography
map of Maryland on the Thermoform machine as shown above.
Next, we placed the thermoform plastic over the map
on the thermoform machine and locked it down (above).
Once it was locked down, heat was applied to the
thermoform plastic by an overhead heat source and then suction was applied
to remove any trapped air from between the mold and the plastic.
When the process is done (in about 10 seconds) the
thermoform is complete (above).
