CAMTech CAD/CAM Integration

Progress Report #2

The mission statement consists of creating the integration between the CAD/CAM systems and the CNC machine. This will increase the overall efficiency of the current process. The documentation of the CAMTech software package, as well as tutorials of the CAD/CAM packages will further the education of Maryland's engineering students. To prove the validity of the CAMTech software, a projection model will be created.

Current Progress

The CAMTech software package COMPP (Computer Oriented Manufacturing Post Processor) is 75% completed with testing beginning in the next week. A test specimen has be designed and created on all three CAD packages. The CAM process for Pro/ENGINEER and Cadkey has also been determined. Finally the files on the Zenith computer are 75% transferred to the Gateway next to the CNC machine.

Future Work

. Here is a list of our immediate future goals:

• Write tutorials for Pro/ENGINEER (Pro/NCPOST), Cadkey (Cutting Edge), and AutoCAD r13 (EZCAM)
• Insert dry run information into COMPP program
• Link COMPP program to ADML printer
• Move COMPP program to Gateway next to the CNC machine
• Test program using all three CAD packages and the designed specimen.
• Write instructions for COMPP program
• Prepare final presentation
