ENME 414 Computer Aided Design

Homework Assignment 6 - Introduction to Pro/ENGINEER

Due 9:00 am, Wednesday, April 2, 1997.

Statement: Concurrent engineering, a new concept developed recently, has received great attention in the process of product development. In concurrent engineering design and manufacturing are merged together, allowing the designers to do only what can be manufactured.

As a result, concurrent engineering calls for system integration. UNIX- based CAD systems are in general used for this purpose. Although these system are expensive, they provide the product development team with powerful tools. Large corporations are willing to pay the initial cost in the first place, expecting to get significant capital return in terms of speeding up the design and manufacturing processes. In this assignment, you are asked to use UNIX-based CAD system, called Pro/ENGINEER, to create the solid models and to complete the engineering drawing for the two pictures below.

Assignments: Create the front, top and right-sided views of the following two parts. Whenever necessary, use sectional views to avoid using dashed lines. Dimensions and tolerances are to be placed as appropriate.
