ENME 414 Computer Aided Design
Homework Assignment 5 - Dimensioning and Tolerancing
Due 9:30 am, Tuesday, October 8, 1996
Statement: Concurrent engineering, a new concept developed recently, has
received
great attention in the process of product development. Concurrent engineering
means
concurrence of design and manufacturing. Under concept of concurrent engineering,
product design and product manufacturing are merged in an intimate way.
As a result, concurrent engineering calls for system integration. UNIX
-based
CAD systems are in general used. Although these systems are expensive,
they provide the
product development team with powerful tools. Large corporations are willing
to pay the
initial cost in the first place and are expecting to get significant capital
return in terms of
speeding up the design and manufacturing processes. In this homework assignment,
you
are asked to use UNIX-based CAD system, called Pro/ENGINEER, to complete
the
engineering drawings.
Assignments: Create the front and sectional views of the two parts shown
below using
Pro/ENGINEER. Dimensions and tolerances are needed based on your judgment.
In
addition the rendered isometric image must also be created. Make use of
the software's
features to limit the amount of work you need to perform.
