Here goes: First: Export or download two attached files: "daily.sas" and "permno.prn" Second: Using any FTP program, send or upload them to your B1 account. "daily.sas" is a simple SAS code that can be used to extract daily stock returns from CRSP tape. "permno.prn" is a input file that contains permanent numbers for companies. Third: Log on to B1. Then, at "b1>" prompt, type "sas daily.sas &" and hit enter. After a couple of seconds or minutes, you'll see "Done - ...." If you type "dir" , you'll see two new files - "daily.out" and "daily.log" - and "daily.out" is the file that contains stock returns data ("daily.log" file is a SAS log file.) If you'd like to use it on your PC or other computers, you can download the output file using FTP program again. If you have any problems or questions, you can e-mail me, call me at either 492-4865 or 786-0886, or try to catch me at BUS 118.
