This article talks about the basic facts of Chronic Venous Disease (CVD). It gives an overview of what it is, how it starts, symptoms, and a small section about treatment. The article talks mostly about what CVD is instead of how to treat it. This relates to my project because CVD is the only disease that is treated at the cite of my practicum.

This article is about foam sclerotherapy treatment used on veins as an alternative to vein surgery. The article speaks about the many trials that were taken on patients using this treatment. The results were that it was a great, affective alternative to surgery not only because it has a good success rate but also since it left no scars, has minimal pain, and patient were back to daily activities in under a day. This relates to practicum because the doctor I shadowed used this type of treatment often on a daily basis. It has become a very common procedure.

This article talks about how Chronic Venous Disease (CVD) is not given as much attention as it should. It goes over how it manifests, how it is diagnosed, and its treatment. It comes to the conclusion that CVD is very common and poses a big threat to someone’s health. This is relevant to my project because my practicum cite dealt with CVD every day and I was able to see that it is actually very common and very easy to get CVD.

This article focused more on the anatomy of the venous system. It went more in detail about the valves in the veins that can cause Chronic Venous Disease (CVD). It talks about the diagnosis and instead of providing treatments like other articles, it discusses how CVD is detected through different types of scanning. This goes along with my practicum because it helps me understand what is going on behind the scenes, before patients get to the actual treatment procedures that I observed.
