Totem Poles Tell Stories, by Phillip

This stamp is to honor the Pacific Coast Indians. The totem pole shows of their excellence in the field of wood carving. These totem poles were to show the history of a family or a story. The symbols were the Klallam, Thunder, Killer Whale, Bear, Raven and the tribe chief. Their land was rich, and they knew how to use it. They fished and hunted. They were water users (that's where they got their fish) and canoe makers.
