My stamp commemorates two of the crafts the Hopi Indians made: kachina dolls and clay pots. Kachina dolls were powerful ancestor spirits used to bring rain, good crops, and to drive out sickness. Kachinas are decorated with feathers, jewelry, and woven fabric. Some are sold to outsiders or given to young Hopi girls at ceremonies.
