This stamp commemorates the Southwest Indians. The Hopi Indians and other Southwest Indian tribes had ceremonies. These ceremonies revolved around religion. The Hopi Indians danced and prayed nine days in August. They danced and prayed for rain and good crops. Rain and good crops kept them prosperous. They danced with rattlesnakes in there mouths. These rattlesnakes were alive when they danced.
