As we move towards a more advanced society, I believe the future is in tech. Although technology may be a subset of STEM, its implications are not limited within. As a student who is part of the College Park Scholars: Science and Global Change program, I believe that it’s important for computer science students to be aware of their environments, both inside and outside the office. Despite growing up in a middle class family, even I have felt the results of global change. From the decrease in annual snowfall to the increase in average yearly high temperatures, even I was able to understand that there was a major change in my surroundings. During my time in this program, I hope to expand my horizons so that I’m able to understand the environmental consequences of my actions.
