Hello, I am Sanzhar Beisembayev, a sophomore in the aerospace engineering program at the University of Maryland. I'm part of the Science and Global Change Scholars program, the Balloon Payload Program, the American Institute of Aeronautics and Astronautics (AIAA) chapter here at UMD, and the Rubik's Cube Club at the University of Maryland. College Park Scholars has allowed me to create friendships that I know will last a lifetime. The Balloon Payload Program has allowed me to learn skills I will use for the rest of my career from testing, coding, and soldering to presenting and utilizing feedback. The AIAA at UMD has helped me create and advertise events for aerospace students to attend and meet professionals in the aerospace industry and to socialize with other aerospace students. The Rubik's Cube Club has allowed me to solve and bond with other UMD speedcubers. I have enjoyed my time at UMD so far, going on Service Day for Scholars, competing at the Rubik's Cube Competition at UMD, walking around campus with friends, eating food from the Diners, etc. I am also an Undergraduate Teaching Fellow for PHYS161 and love helping students out with understanding the topics. I am excited to see how my next three years of college turn out, and the risks, the opportunities, and the experiences I will have.
