Course Description:

This course will teach students the basic academic survival strategies they need to get the biggest “bang” for their education “buck”.  Students will be exposed to teaching methods that will enable them to discover that learning happens in and out of the class.
In order to succeed in this course students must come to each class and learn to make use of Library and on-line resources.  Extra credit will be given to those students who are able to integrate extracurricular activities and work programs into their academic life.  In addition, mastery of  #electronicelectronic communication will be a must.

Course Goals:

Students will:
  1. manage their time and meet deadlines
  2. learn about different cultures and explore methods of communication
  3. examine the concepts of ethics, hard work, and survival
  4. learn what to do when “Life Happens”

Attendance

A significant portion of the grade for this class is assigned to class participation.  You must participate in class and electronically at appointed times in order to receive a desirable grade.

 70-80 points

Break points for grades occur at:
 90-100 points = A
 80-90 points = B
 70-80 points = C
 60-70 points =  D
 0-59 points = E



Readings
There is no assigned text for this course.  Numerous ancillary readings will be noted in the Reference area of this class website.  Those that are deemed required reading will be so noted.  Others will serve as supplementary content, should you wish to explore a topic in greater depth.
