I grew up in Idaho until 2016 when my parents decided to relocate to Maryland for work. After four years of living here it is hard to imagine what else I would be doing other than studying Fire Protection Engineering at the University of Maryland. Although life on campus is slightly altered this year (2020-2021), I am extremely happy I got to live on campus and experience life in-person. The Science and Global Change College Park Scholars program immediately caught my attention when I read that it taught about climate change through the scientific perspective. I was always a strong believer in the need to take care of our planet and it aggravated me when others would not. However, I always found it difficult to back my argument with the science of how the world changes. Hence, I saw this program as an opportunity to embrace my curiosity about global change.
