Hello! My name is Nathan Jacobs and I am a current second year student here at the University of Maryland. I am majoring in Mechanical Engineering with a minor in Sustainability Studies. I decided on Science and Global Change (SGC) because I believed it would give me a new style of thinking when considering the global environmental issues we face today. Through SGC, I hope to gain a broader depth of knowledge of how to use science to combat these issues- scientifically, but also politically and socially. Furthermore, I also believe SGC will make my college life in general more enjoyable at UMD. Different events, excursions, and service opportunities will allow me to create friendships and strengthen existing ones with people who share interests and possibly career goals with me. I see college as an opportunity to work towards my career, but also increase my depth of knowledge and wisdom to grow as an individual.
