Project 6 Design the Homepage and four other pages. |
The Homepage is the main page of your website and it should have a strong visual presence. It should communicate, that this is an “art site”. This should be communicated through visual means and not just through words saying this is an art site. It should also indicate/hint of the content in rest of the web site. For example the visitor to the homepage should be able to have a general impression of what to expect. The content could be introduced through thumbnails or perhaps divided into categories such as such as Painting, Photography, Drawing, Video, Animation, and Graphics etc. Once clicked on a thumbnail it would open another page with the images and text. All your work should be on html pages. Do not link directly to images. They should be all placed on web pages and make sure to have navigation built into each page so that the entire website could be browsed easily without having to rely on browser buttons. When placing images and text take special care as not to create confusing backgrounds. Design well so that the images can be viewed without being distracted. Save your artwork as jpgs and 72 pixels per inch. Don’t let the images be too large so one has to scroll the page to see the entire image. Consider you are designing the site to be viewed on monitors in our classroom. Keep all your files in one folder. Suggestions: Web monkey is a very useful website for information on html.
