Project 4
Designing the catalog.

Design the inside pages of the catalog and combining with project 3 – the cover pages and bind them to create a complete catalog

For project 4 you will use Adobe InDesign to design the pages of the catalog.  You will determine the number of pages.  However there should be a minimum or 6 pages.  On average it would be about 10 pages for most students.

The content for the catalog would be your artist statement and the images of your artwork.  Spread the statement throughout the catalog. Do not use the statement as one block of text.  Also the images of artwork should spread throughout the catalog and include the following information with each of your artwork:

Title,

Medium,

Scale,

Date (year).

Note: When designing the pages the layout should be as a conventional book - that is on the right side the odd numbered pages and on the left side the even numbered pages.
Make sure to present the information without distractions such as complex background designs and vivid colors behind text and images.  Create an environment where text could be read easily and images could be seen without distraction.

Using a grid to align content would help structure the pages well.

Finally you will bind the pages with the cover pages (done in project 3) and submit as a complete catalog.  The catalog should be bound and some techniques on how to bind the catalog will be discussed in class.
