Project 5 Design the Homepage and approximately ten other pages. |
The Homepage is the main page of your website and it should have a strong visual presence. It should communicate, that this is an “art site”. This should be communicated through visual means and not just through words saying this is an art site. It should also indicate/hint of the content. For example the visitor to the homepage should be able to have a general impression of what to expect. The content could be introduced through thumbnails or perhaps divided into categories such as such as Painting, Photography, Drawing, Sculpture, Video, Animation, and Graphics etc. Once clicked on a thumbnail it would open another page with the images and text. All your work should be on html pages. Do not link directly to images. Make sure to have navigation built into each page so that the entire website could be browsed easily without having to rely on browser buttons. When placing images and text take special care as not to create confusing backgrounds. Design well so that the images can be viewed without being distracted. Save your artwork as JPGs, and/or PNGs and 72 pixels per inch. Don’t let the images be too large so one has to scroll the page to see the entire image. Consider you are designing the site to be viewed on monitors in our classroom. *IMPORTANT: Keep all your files that needs to be uploaded in one folder. (make sure when you are linking images and pages that you do within the folder and not files from outside the folder). *Homepage should be saved as index.html. *Filenames should not contain any special characters and spaces between words. This site will be uploaded to your pub folder in your TERPCONNECT account. Use a program that has SFTP such as Transmit, Fugu, Fetch and WSFTP.
