Project 4 Create a 3 minutes digital video. |
Create a 3-minute movie using Premiere and AfterEffects. This movie should be created mainly using still images and various audio files. Part 1: Write a short script for the movie or adopt a story that you already know such as a fairy tale or an interesting story you have heard or read. You can also consider various genres such as political satire, documentary, current events or other areas that you may want to explore. Submit the story to SUBMIT foilder. Part 2: Based on the story, sketch a storyboard - as if you are drawing a comic book. Not much detail needed but looking at the storyboard should help visualize the story. Submit the storyboard to the SUBMIT folder https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=BSOJiSUI0z8 https://www.videomaker.com/article/f2/15415-how-to-make-a-storyboard-storyboard-lingo-techniques
Part 3: Develop the visuals for the animation such as various scenes for the backgrounds and characters. They can be hand drawn or software generated using Photoshop and Illustrator. Also, you can use images that already exist or manipulate them for this purpose. Refer to the storyboard to find out what visuals are needed. This will give you a better understanding of the images needed. Resolution for your images -72 pixels/inch, Mode RGB color, Frame size 1920x1080 px (this will be the frame/screen size for the movie). Hint: An easy way to create this frame size is when opening Photoshop of Illustrator click on create new. Then select "Film & Video" there you will have the option to choose the needed frame size. Part 4: Create or find audio files that can be used for the animation. Garage Band or other software can be used to create the soundtrack. Do not use one soundtrack and script a movie to suit the soundtrack such as what you would see in music videos. Associate the sound with the action on screen. For example: If a car is roaring past a barking dog one would assume there will be two audio files one for the car and one for the dog barking. Here are two sites for free audio downloads: https://freesound.org Part 5: Editing. This is the stage where the animation will take place by incorporating visuals and audio. You will be using AfterEffects and Premiere to do the animation. Do not have the appearance of a slide show or stop-motion animation. Animate your images using the software by tweening. Many examples will be shown in class to illustrate this point. You are allowed to use video clips but not to exceed 5% of the total duration of the movie (no requirement to use video clips). IMPORTANT: Create a folder and save all your files in that folder including your project file. When you import files to the project they are not embedded in the project – they are only linked to the project. Bring the files into the folder before you import the files to the project. Also, keep a duplicate of the folder in the server as a backup just in case you corrupt your document. Audio – avoid using MP3 files. Use AIF or Wav files. Do not wait until you have the script completed to start using Premiere. If you are not ready with the script start using Premiere with any sample images and get familiar with the software. NOTE: If you want to use After Effects you are allowed to do so. However, the learning curve is much greater than learning Premiere. Here are some Video tutorials that will help you learn After Effects: Here's the tutorial I would suggest you watch first. LEARN AFTER EFFECTS IN 20 MINUTES! - Tutorial for beginners LYNDA.com s |
