About the Library:

The Priddy Library is located on the first floor of the Camille Kendal Academic Center. This building was built in 2007 to accommodate growing student enrollment in the programs that are offered through the innovative partnerships of the nine USM institutions. The Priddy library is a modern, sophisticated and spacious facility filled with natural light in a green building with bamboo floors, among its many elements. A glass-enclosed lounge area with easy chairs and couches fitted with power ports for electronic devices looks out on to a garden filled with plants native to the region, ideal for students between classes. Adjacent to the large airy main reading room are eight enclosed study rooms that can be reserved by groups and allow conversation. Four group study rooms are equipped with wall-mounted LCD panels, video equipment, and chalk boards. In addition, three modules with more than two-dozen computers are available to students. There are many single work stations throughout the library for students to use. Wireless network access is available throughout the campus.

The mission of the library is to provide educational support to the students, faculty and staff from the nine institutions at USG. The Library also serves the USMAI Alumni, Friends of the Library, Special Borrowers and community patrons. Research assistance is available to patrons during regular library hours. Students can also email librarians at shadylib@umd.edu to make an appointment for in-depth research assistance. The Subject Guides (LibGuides) are great research resources for students. They include the titles, location, and description of electronic and print reference materials, journal indexes, and Internet resources. Priddy Library is a branch of University of Maryland Libraries and the library's borrowing and fine policies are in accordance with the UM Libraries.
