Deep  crust geochemistry, seismology, and geoneutrinos

I am a geology graduate student pursuing a Ph.D. at the University of Maryland, College Park.

I investigate the composition of the deep crust, focusing on the lowermost continental crust.  While the continental crust makes up only 0.5% of the earth by mass, incredible variation exists in this 10²² kg-layer of rock we live on - and most of it we can't sample directly. I collaborate with geochemists, seismologists, and nuclear physicists to construct models of major element and heat producing element (U, Th, K) distributions in the deep crust.
