Replication Materials for Formal Rights and Informal Privileges for Same-Sex Couples: Evidence from a National Survey Experiment

[ASR Online Supplement]

This page contains necessary files to replicate the findings presented in “Formal Rights and Informal Privileges for Same-Sex Couples: Evidence from a National Survey Experiment,” and in the online supplement to the article. Feel free to contact longdoan (at) indiana (dot) edu with questions.

We use Stata 12 for the analyses. The dataset will be available from the TESS website in SPSS format. The included do-files contain instructions on coding the original dataset once it is converted to Stata format.

[Stata do-file for analyses]
This is a do-file for the main analyses presented in the paper. It requires the following user-written commands. Use the findit command to download these user-written packages:
fastcd
esttab
polychoric

[Stata do-file for online supplement]
This is a do-file for the supplemental analyses presented in the ASR online supplement. The supplemental analyses in Online Supplement 7 require varibles from the 2010 GSS and Steensland and colleagues' RELTRAD coding scheme. Append the RELTRAD variable from the GSS to the TESS dataset to run these analyses. You do not need the GSS-appended data file for analyses from the other supplemental analyses. Simply comment out the code for Online Supplement 7 to run the do-file without the GSS-appended data file. The do-file also requires the following user-written commands. Use the findit command to download these user-written packages:
fastcd
esttab
polychoric
spost9
gologit2
