Hello, my name is Isabelle Rivera! I am a freshman double majoring in aerospace engineering and geology (professional track) at the University of Maryland College Park. I am also minoring in planetary science.

I am a member of the science sub-team within UMD Loop, which is an undergraduate engineering competition team. This year, the team is building a mars rover for the University Rover Challenge (URC). Another engineering club I am a member of is UMD Nearspace, also known as the Balloon Payload Program (BPP). This club specializes in creating and sending up various different payloads on weather balloons that typically reach over 90,000 feet high. Lastly, I am also a member of the Society for Hispanic Professional Engineers (SHPE) and Women in Aeronautics and Astronautics (WIAA).

I have enjoyed the variety of activities and opportunities offered at UMD. In the future, I plan to create spacecrafts that study distant terrestrial planetary bodies: moons, planets, etc. While I am at UMD I hope to do everything possible to prepare myself for this ambition, by working in labs, joining clubs, and excelling in my classes.
