Lilian Troup was born on 30 August 1883 in Newcastle, Yorkshire, England. She was the daughter of James Troup and Annie Mary Smith.
Lilian became a teacher in Lincolnshire, and later Headmistress of Over Wyresdale Friends School in Lancashire. She was much respected for her quiet adherence to Friends' principles and the support she gave to struggling conscientious objectors in the war.1
Lilian Troup died on 12 March 1953 at age 69 of throat cancer.
