Jeffrey's name was also spelled "Geoffrey." He was born about 1367.1 He was the son of Ralph Jocelyn and Margaret Patmer.2

Jeffrey Jocelyn married first Catherine le Bray, daughter of Thomas le Bray.3,4 Catherine probably died young with no surviving children.4

On 17 October 1394 Jeffrey is recorded as about to go into Ireland in the King's service, with Thomas de Percy, steward of the King's household.2

Jeffrey Jocelyn married second Joan ____ about 1400.4

When Jeffrey's older brother Thomas Jocelyn died about 1410 with no surviving sons, Jeffrey inherited his estates.5

Jeffrey Jocelyn resided at Hyde (or Hide) Hall, Sawbridgeworth, Hertfordshire.2

Jeffrey made a will on 7 January 1425.5 By this will, which is now missing, he left Hyde Hall to his son and heir Thomas, subject to the dower of his wife Joan.2

Jeffrey Jocelyn probably died on 20 February 1425.5

Jeffrey Jocelyn was buried in the church at Sawbridgeworth, Hertfordshire. The inscription on a memorial brass in the church, as transcribed in 1631, reads Hic iacent Galfredus Ioslyne & Katherine, ac Joanna vxor eius, qui obiit ii January M cccc lxx.6 The translation is Here lie Geoffrey Joslyne and Katherine, and his wife Joanna, who died 2 January 1470. The year 1470 given for Geoffrey's death can not have been correctly transcribed, and the inscription of this year is no longer legible on the brass.4 The assumption made by Elizabeth French in the research she published in 1917, that the inscription refers to Jeffrey's son Jeffrey Josselyn, is considered by Richard Joscelyne to be unlikely.4
