Josephine Burnett Mayne.

Katonah has lost another of its old residents when Josephine B. Mayne died early Friday morning, Nov. 20th. She was a daughter of the late Durant and Charlotte Burnett and was born in New York city in the early 50's. When a small girl her father purchased a farm consisting of what is now the Todd farm on Cherry street, the property of the Katonah Development Co. and the fields now covered by the Katonah Lake.

Since that time she has lived in the Town of Bedford, except a few years soon after her marriage, which were spent in Connecticut. In 1870 she was married to the late James C. Mayne. She was a faithful and loving wife, devoted mother, a good neighbor and a loyal member of the Methodist Church.

The funeral services were held at her late residence in Katonah on Sunday afternoon, Nov. 22d, at 2:30 p. m., her pastor, the Rev. R. L. Ross, in charge. A large number of friends and neighbors attended.

She is survived by one sister, Mrs. Amelia Cox, of Mt. Kisco; one brother, Arthur W. Burnett, of Winsted, Conn., and one son, Harry Z. Mayne, of Katonah.
