Katonah M. E. Church Notes
. . . Our church and village have met with a great loss in the death of Brother James C. Mayne. For nearly twenty-seven wears [sic], Brother Mayne has gone in and out among the people of this village, and his life has commanded respect and inspired love from all who knew him through all the years. The sympathy of many friends goes out to those of his home and heart in their bereavement --- the sympathy of many is needed by all who knew him; for each has lost a friend. "There is, there was, no truer, kindlier, manlier man."
