Greetings dear cousins,
We went to Edinburgh last week to check on Anne's Mum (ninety four years young). She is in good fettle. Anne had cause to look up something in Register House so I went along to see if I could find out anything more. I tried to find Betsy Robertson's death but could not. Perhaps it was not registered or got missed off the list.
I did find her illegit. daughter's death however.
"Cecilia Scrimgeour Robertson, Dressmaker. Single. Died February 11th 1919 at 18 Caldrum Street, Dundee.
Aged 43 years. Father -----. Mother - Betsy Robertson, Housekeeper.
Cause of death - Rheumatic Endocarditis and Pneumonia
Informant Jemima Inglis, neighbour, of 19a Caldrum St. Dundee."
Sadly another avenue for present day family survivors closes.......
I then tried to find more about Elizabeth Robertson who was mentioned in Catherine Mitchell Robertson's will. Deaths of E.R.'s were very numerous so I looked at marriages. I found her - and guess where! - the entry above Sophia's marriage entry. I don't know how I missed it before - but in mitigation the writing is very indistinct.
They were married in a dual ceremony at Lochside, brother David's farm.
Entry 11.
"On the 4th day of August 1860 at Lochside, Parish of Blairgowrie.
Marriage after Banns was solemnised between us according to the forms of the Free Church of Scotland. Signed John Page. Elizabeth Robertson.

I was about to try to find Mary's death when there was an emergency and we had to evacuate while the Fire Brigade roared up! Never did find out what for.
