Obituary Notice.

DURANT BURNETT.

Mr. Durant Burnett, the well-known resident of Mt. Kisco, died at his home here last Sunday morning, Oct. 16th, about five o'clock. The cause of death was blood-poisoning arising from a sore on his foot, which had troubled him for a few months past. He had it treated for some time, and finally, a couple of weeks ago, an operation was performed on the foot. But it did not remove the disease, and he failed to rally from it.

Mr. Burnett was in his 75th year. He was born in Yarmouth, England, and came to this country when he was 14 years old. He served an apprenticeship to the first house-plumber that ever did business in New York city, and learned his trade thoroughly and well. After working at the business for many years, he retired, and came into Westchester county to live, 30 years ago. He first bought a large farm on Cherry street, near Mrs. H. E. Anderson's place; but after 14 years of farm life, he came to Mount Kisco and entered business again. He continued at it for the last 16 years, and was actively at work until a few months ago, when his foot prevented him getting around.

Mr. Burnett was married twice. By his first wife he leaves three children--Mrs. James H. Fowler, of Carmel; Mrs. Royal Monroe, of Canada; and Mr. Wm. Burnett, of Mt. Kisco. His second wife was a Miss Charlotte Smith, and she survives him, with three children--Mrs. J. C. Mayne, of Katonah; Mrs. J. E. Cox, Mt. Kisco; and Mr. Arthur W. Burnett, of Winsted, Ct.

The funeral services were held at his late residence, on South Moger avenue, on Wednesday afternoon at one o'clock, and were largely attended. Rev. W. A. Chadwick officiated. The burial was in the family plot in the Buxton cemetery, Bedford.
