Grenville C. Mackenzie, Esq.
Westchester County Historical Society
Dear Sir:
In your interesting article in the last Quarterly Bulletin, on page 90, it is stated that Abraham DeVoe, son of Nicholas DeVeaux, who came to America in 1674, married Mynno, daughter of Paulus Jurckse and widow of William Hoppe.
According to the DeVeaux Genealogy by Thomas F. DeVoe, page 34, this Abraham DeVoe married Mynno DeMaree in 1688. and had six children, but I have not been able to find a record of this marriage nor of a Mynno DeMaree whom he might have married. His name appears many times in the Tarrytown church records with a wife Mynno but no clue is given to her family name.
I shall be greatly obliged to you if you will kindly give me a reference for her parentage as given in your article, and for your convenience I enclose a stamped and addressed envelope.
Very truly yours,
[signature] William Jones.

Letter 2:
Jan. 8 1937
Mr. William Jones,
6 Deshon Ave.,
Bronxville, N.Y.
Dear Mr. Jones:
I never knew where the author of the Devoe Genealogy got the misinformation about Abraham Devoe's wife. She was Mynno (Jacomina) Paulus or Jurckse daughter of Paulus Jurckse and Christina _____. She was born in Albany and married William Hoppe in Bergen, N.J., Nov. 29 1679 and had Christina bp. 1681, Gertrude bp. 1682 and Belitje bp. 1684. She married Abraham Devoe in or about 1688.
I thought that I had recently found a definite record of this marriage, but at present am unable to locate it. However, in the New York Dutch church records is the baptism of Johannes son of Johannes Jurkse and Aeltje Jochems (Van Wert) Nov. 24 1700 and the sponsors were Abraham de Voe and Germina Jurks his wife. This, I think, gives you the documentary evidence that you desire.
Sincerely yours,

Letter 3:
6 Deshon Avenue
Bronxville
New York
January 9, 1937
My dear Mr.Mackenzie,
Many thanks for your letter of January 8th, which came to me this morning.
In view of the New York Dutch Church record and the lack of evidence in the DeVeaux book there seems to be no doubt that your statement about Mynno's parents is correct.
Sincerely yours,
