Mrs. William H. Cargon.

Harriett W., widow of the late William H. Cargon, died at her home on Valley Road early Sunday morning.

Harriett Walpole Cargon was born March 16, 1852, the daughter of William and Mary Walpole, who had come to this country from England a few years prior to this date. On September 21, 1871, she married William Henry Cargon, whose death occurred in 1931.

Mr. and Mrs. Cargon were both born in Katonah and all their lives Katonah was their home. Two children survive, William H. Cargon, Jr., of Ridgefield, Conn., and Mrs. Harry Z. Mayne, of Katonah; also one sister, Mrs. Rachel A. Troup, of White Plains.

Until within a few weeks of her death Mrs. Cargon had continued very active, despite failing eye sight. She was one of the few linking the beginning of Methodism in Katonah to the present time, she being a member of the Whitlockville, Old Katonah and the present Methodist Church. She was a devoted member of her church, entering into the activities and always attending its services regularly all her life.

A life and character like her's add to the moral and spiritual life of the village and her death is a loss to the community.

Funeral services were held from her late home on Tuesday afternoon, Rev. George Benton Smith officiating. Interment was in Kensico Cemetery.
