William H. Cargon.
William H. Cargon died Thursday, July 30th, at his home on Valley Road, as briefly announced last week, following an illness of several months. He was one of the oldest residents in Katonah having been born here Sept 20th 1849. Mr. Cargon's home has always been in the Town of Bedford, most of the time in Katonah. On Sept 21 1871, he was married to Harriet A. Walpole who survives him.
At the age of eighteen he was converted during special meetings at Mt. Zion Church and attended that Church for some time, afterwards attending the Whitlockville M. E. Church. On Oct 15, 1874, he joined the Whitlockville Church, which afterwards became the Katonah M. E. Church and continued a faithful and useful member and official until the time of his death.
Besides his widow, Harriet Cargon, there remain two children, William H. Cargon, Jr., of Ridgefield, Conn., and Mrs. Harry Z. Mayne, of Katonah.
The funeral services were held on Sunday last in the Katonah Methodist Church, and the many floral tributes and the church filled with friends and neighbors spoke of the high regard in which he was held by his fellow church and townspeople.
