Dear Aunt Mary,
We have thought of you often, and wonder how you are. No doubt you have a thousand and one things to do and look after. We are so glad that you have Marion with you.
Uncle Harry's passing was a great shock to us. We all liked him, because he was always easy going and good natured. I hoped many times that when I became a man that I could be at least half the man that he was. In my mind he was one of the best men I knew. He was a devout Christian, a good husband, and a successful business man. I am thankful that I knew him and I shall never forget the very pleasant times I spent with you and him.
I want you to know that his very thoughtful remembrance of Lucia and me in his will came as a complete surprise to us, and we sincerely appreciate his thoughtfulness. To me it is and will be another treasured remembrance of Uncle Harry, one of the finest men I have known.
We are so pleased that you came to see us last December, because we hadn't seen you folks so long before that. Let's try to see each other more often. We will drive out to Katonah some day this summer, and we hope that you will come see us. Hulda and I are planning to take the boys to Cape Cod the last week in June, and then she and I will take a few days for a trip the week following the 4th.
Love from Jack
