Taber, Elnathan, Roxbury, Mass. (1784-1854). Native of New Bedford, of Quaker parentage, came to Roxbury at age of 16 or 19, served as apprentice to Simon Willard, and afterwards engaged in clockmaking on his own account. When Simon Willard retired [1839], Taber bought most of his tools and the good will of the business, his clocks being as good as Simon Willard's. He made clocks for Simon Willard, Jr., & Son (1838-54).
