PATTON, Dorothy Brown, 77, passed away peacefully late Thursday night, March 6, 2003, at her home in Christiansburg, Va. She was a former employee of The Roanoke Times & World-News and a seamstress of specialty gowns and apparel. She provided a lifetime of "unconditional" love and support to family and friends. Dorothy was a very independent, kind and giving woman, with a positive attitude towards life. An avid animal lover and caretaker, she is survived by her two pets, "Chloe" and "Belle." She was preceded in death by her husband, Dale Joseph Patton and her mother-in-law, Josephine (Grammy) Patton, and is survived by her loving family, daughter, Glenna Johannessen of Christiansburg, Va.; son and daughter-in-law, Craig and Gloria Patton of Salem; sister and brother-in-law, Stephanie and Howard Devoe of Frederick, Md.; three grandchildren, Lauren Patton, Jason Johannessen, Kristen Shelor and husband, Barry; great-grandson, Joe Shelor; a special niece, Trish Maguire of Greensboro, N.C.; nephew, Mike Maguire of Portland, Ore.; nephew, Jeffrey Brown of Southern California; and loving friends from the Lifestream Center of Roanoke; and many other friends. The family wishes to extend their special thanks to the Good Samaritan Hospice for their help and support. A Celebration of Life for Dorothy Patton will be held at the Lifestream Center on the corner of Windsor Road and Grandin Road in Southwest Roanoke on Sunday, March 16, 2003, at 11 a.m. For more information phone 344-3031.
