I'm new to the List [TheShipsList-L] and am searching for the passenger list for the WILLIAM STETSON. We think my husband's g-g-grandfather, DR. WILLIAM GODFREY DYAS, was aboard this ship. The ship sailed from Liverpool on Saturday, April 5, 1856 and was thought lost at sea. Upon making port in NYC, the passage was written up in the New York Herald on May 13th in which a "Surgeon William Dyas" was commended by the passengers (some 500-600 people) "for his attention to the general health of the passengers" and "strenuous exertions to save our lives and the ship." . . .
Sincerely,
Liz Thayer
