Abraham born 1754, died March 15, 1826. Married Hester Devoe, daughter of Abraham and Leah (Storms) Devoe. Born April 24, 1759, died about 1799. Married 2nd, February 2, 1802, Sarah Minnerly, widow.

. . . Abraham was a tall, raw boned man and was early nick-named "Brom Bones" to distinguish him from other Van Tassels bearing the same name, who lived in the neighborhood and attended the Sleepy Hollow Church at that time. Abraham lived in Sleepy Hollow a little north of Carle's Mill. His name appears upon an old Revolutionary muster roll still existing of Captain Gabriel Requa's Company of the upper part of the Manor of Philipsburgh. It was made up between 1778 and 1780. On it appears the name: "Abram Van Tassel (Bones)". For many years after the war Abraham was chorister and reader at the Old Sleepy Hollow Church in Tarrytown, New York.
