Howard,
This is what I sent to Susan
M
Dear Susan,
Sorry about calling you Sharman before! Thankyou so much for the wealth of information you have sent. I realise that I have a lot to learn about David Troup's family. I had no idea of Charlotte's existence and I was most certainly way out saying that Jane and Ernest had two children.
I think I am wrong on another point - that Joan must have been daughter of Charles and Ada Jane. I assumed this from her and Ada thanking people for condolences after Charles death. I have not managed to find anything about her and think now that they were childless - unless you know otherwise.
I checked on www.teesvalley-indexes to see if the Ann you found married in 1857 indeed was your Ann. Sure enough the spouse of Ann Weighells (sic) was Isaac Simpson. I wonder why Ann and David married in Durham Register Office? Also who were James and Sarah Simpson?
The strangest thing is to find that William Weighell farmed in Bishopton Road, Stockton. I am probably built on one of his fields! The local 'local' is called the Rimswell and is about three minutes away.
I know that Charles and Ada Jane lived at 8 Wensleydale Street WHpool for many years before they died. They were associated with Westbourne Methodist Church. My father was deputy organist there in the 1920s and I have seen an entry in his diary " Go to C.R.T.s for the hymn list."
Thankyou again for the fascinating material you sent. I presume you have the earlier Troup stuff from Howard's site, but if you want an outline of the Robertson side please let me know but I don't know how to send it by computer.
Have a happy holiday,
Margaret.
