Now, the fossil residue is dried and brought into the classroom to be sorted. Here, Dr. Kranz explains to the students how they will be sorting their finds. He explains that not everything will be a dinosaur fossil. In fact, there will be very few dinosaur fossils. | |
|
The fossil residue will be sorted into four categories - ironstone (lower left), rounded stones (middle) or lignite, a kind of coal or ancient tree fossil (lower right).
If an object does not fall into one of those categories, it is placed in the "I Don't Know" category, the one which we hope to find the dinosaur fossils.

The student begin their sorting with Dr. Kranz and their teacher, Mrs. Henderson looking on.
