Eric A. Pelzl

I'm a sixth-year PhD student in the Second Language Acquisition program at the University of Maryland, College Park. My adviser is Robert DeKeyser.

Before joining Maryland's SLA program, I taught Mandarin Chinese for six years in the U.S., including two summers at Middlebury College's Chinese Language School. This experience motivates my research interests in second language acquisition.

In addition to working with colleagues in the Maryland SLA program, I also collaborate with Ellen Lau in the Linguistics department, and SLA researchers at the Center for Advanced Study of Language (CASL). I am also an active member of Maryland's Language Science Center.

Key words: Mandarin, lexical tones, accent, speech comprehension, psycholinguistics, EEG, foreign language teaching
