Hello, my name is Diallo Barnes, and I am currently a sophomore at the University of Maryland. I grew up in southern Maryland and played soccer for the majority of my childhood. I also just recently picked up the guitar as a side hobby. As a member of the Science and Global Change Scholars Program, I hope to gain new friends, new interests, and, most importantly, a new outlook on life. Science applies to everything. Secrets about the solar system, earth, humans, molecules, and more are explained through science. I chose chemistry as my major because it is my favorite science and there is so much to do with it. Me specifically, I aspire to become a Materials Scientist, to which they develop and modify materials to make them better. Through chemistry, or material sciences, I hope to change the world even in the smallest way in order to promote the development of society and science in general.
