Douglas Lake, Tennessee
July 19-24, 2004

We spent the week of July 19, 2004 with Mom, Dad, Gigi, Max, Beth, Max Joseph, and Eva at a cabin at Douglas Lake, TN, about 30 miles from Pigeon Forge/Gatlinburg. The cabin was big and comfortable, and was in an isolated cove with its own dock. The lake was far less developed than I thought it would be, and we saw very little boat traffic. We all enjoyed spending time on the big back deck, from which we could see one other house.

We spent a lot of time in the lake, but made a couple of "field trips" during the week. On Tuesday and Friday, we visited Gatlinburg to visit Ober Gatlinburg and the Ripley's Aquarium. On Wednesday, because my kids are totally animal crazy, we went to Rainforest Adventures in Sevierville.

For more pictures, see Max's page at http://home.midsouth.rr.com/maxblake/. For more info on the cabin, which we would highly recommend, click here.

In his excitement, Nick fell/jumped into the lake soon after we arrived.

Mike was eager to teach the kids to fish. No one caught anything, but they had fun.

Taking the aerial tram in Gatlinburg. Eva was not happy. (A trip to the hospital on Thursday revealed that she had strep and pneumonia.)

Ober Gatlinburg was cheesy, but the tram was fun.
