After you have created
your web page using Netscape Composer, save it as a HTML file. You are
now ready to transfer your web page to your WAM account.
1. Open Secure FTP.
2. In the Connect to box enter: wam.umd.edu
3. In the Username box enter your wam login ID.
4. Click Connect.
5. Enter your wam password and then click Authenticate.
6. A screen with two large boxes of information will appear. On the right side of the screen find the box labeled Home. Click on the Home box and select your wam login ID.
7. The right side of the screen will change and a new list of files appears. Double click on the pub folder.
8. Look in the large box on the left side of the screen and locate your web page files and graphics. Click and drag each one into your pub folder (the box on the right).
9. You have now transferred your files to you wam account. Click Disconnect and exit Secure FTP.
10. Now view your web page by opening Internet Explorer or Netscape Navigator and typing the following address (filling in your information where appropriate):
http://www.wam.umd.edu/~your login ID/name of your web page.html
After you have created
your web page using Netscape Composer, save it to a disk as an HTML file.
You are now ready to transfer your web page to your WAM account. Make sure
that your disk is inserted into the A: drive.
1. Open WS-FTP.
2. On the Session Profile
screen, add the following information:
Profile Name | wam |
Host Name/Address | wam.umd.edu |
Host Type | Automatic Detect |
User ID | your WAM login ID |
Password | your WAM password |
The boxes for account and comments may be empty.
3. Click OK.
4. You should see a screen with two boxes, one on the left side, Local System, and one on the right side, Remote System.
5. Look in the box on the right, Remote System, and double click on the green arrow at the top of the box.
6. A new screen of information should appear in this box. Double click on the pub folder.
7. Look at the box on the left, Local System. Double click on the [-a-] folder (the A drive).
8. Find your web page which should be saved as an HTML file. Click once on your web page.
9. Now find the arrows (in between the two boxes) and click the arrow pointing to the Remote System box on the right.
10. You should now see that your web page has moved from the box on the left side of the screen to the box on the right side of the screen. Transfer all graphic files (GIF or JPEG) to your pub folder as well.
11. Look at the very bottom of the screen and click the EXIT button.
12. Now view your web page by opening Internet Explorer or Netscape Navigator and typing the following address (filling in your information where appropriate):
http://www.wam.umd.edu/~your login ID/name of your web page.html
