Phase 1 : Explore feasibility of XML to Java Applet Pathway (Sep't 1999 - May 2000)

  1. Design XML vocabulary and tag set structure for markup of diagrams and diagram pathways.

  2. Design XML to Java source code compiler.

  3. Connect Java-enabled diagrams to regular html pages (and system for tutorial navigation).

Phase 2 : Develop Java-enabled Diagram Editor (June, 2001 -- present)

Capabilities of Diagram Toolkit:

  • Drag-and-drop assembly of diagrams composed of simple shapes, images, pop-up hints, html links, and hierarchy and network links.
  • Saves diagrams in XML format.
  • Automatic export to Java-enabled applets (perhaps via a wizard).
  • XML import of UML diagrams created in professional UML toolkits (this is time consuming to implement and maintain).
