Problem 1

If you don't already have a home page, create a file called Welcome.html inside the ../pub i.e.,

    >> cd ../pub
    >> vi Welcome.html

and type in the minimal HTML Document on pages 27-28 of the red class reader (it's part of the tutorial "A Beginners Guide to HTML"). Make sure that your home page contains: (1) your picture (you can get this from the "meet the class" page), (2) your name, and (3) links to the homework in questions 2 and 3 below.

Goto the ENCE 200 "Meet the Class" page, and check that it is correctly linked to your home page. Please let us know if the link doesn't work.

Problem 2

Create an online version of your resume in a file called resume.html. Create a link from "Welcome.html" to "resume.html"

I want you to code the resume in html and make sure that the page layout is controled by <table> ..... </table> tags.

Problem 3

Develop a web page that contains links to:

Two search engines.
Home pages for the Department of Civil Engineering, College of Engineering, and University of Maryland.
The home pages of three large retail outlets (e.g., Gap).
The home pages of three computer companies (e.g., Sun Microsystems, Microsoft).
The home pages of five Civil Engineering companies (e.g., Woodward-Clyde, Bechtel).
The home pages of two professional organizations in Civil Engineering (e.g., ASCE).
The home pages of two authors.
Two on-line newspapers (one in the US; one outside of North America).
Two on-line magazines (e.g., Time, Newsweek).
Two on-line publishers (e.g., Prentice-Hall, John-Wiley and Sons, Amazon).
Two on-line financial institutions (e.g., Charles Schwab, E-Trade, Datatek).

The grader will visit your site and grade the homework soon after the due date.
