HORNETS ARE SOCIAL WASPS. THE HORNET THAT THERE ARE THE MOST OF IN UNITED STATES IS THE BOLD FACED HORNET. IT HAS A BLACK AND WHITE BODY WITH A WHITE FACE. THEIR NESTS ARE HANGING. THEY CAN BE FOUND ON TREES AND BUSHES. THE NEST CAN GROW AS BIG AS A BASKETBALL AND HAVE 100 ADULT HORNETS. HORNETS WERE SOME OF THE FIRST PAPERMAKERS.THEY USE CHEWED UP PLANT AND WOOD TO MAKE LARGE PAPER NESTS. IN SPRING THE QUEEN FEMALE MAKES THE NESTS. THE LITTLE HORNETS THAT ARE BORN FIRST HELP THEIR MOTHER MAKE THE NEST LARGER. HORNETS LIVE IN THEIR NEST FOR ONE YEAR. THE NEST WORKERS AND THE MALES DIE WITH THE FIRST FROST OF WINTER. HORNETS WILL STING YOU IF YOU BOTHER THEM . IF THEY STING YOU IT WILL HURT AND GET SWOLLEN. HORNETS HELP BY EATING FLYS THAT THEY EAT. SEE YOU IN THE SPRING
