Edmonia Lewis

	Edmonia Lewis was such a great sculptor. People say she could make stone
	 talk. She was born in the year 1845 in Albany, New York. Her mom was a Native
	  American and her father was a black American. Edmonia was involved in the 
	  Underground Railroad to take blacks to the North to freedom. She was one of
	   the first black Americans to be recognized as a great artist. One of her 
	   most famous sculptures was Forever Free. It is a study of a slave man getting
	    free. She died in 1890 at a young age of 45.
