The biggest open cut copper mine in the world is located to the interior of the Second Region about 15 kilometers from Calama in the North of Chile.

This mine is administer by Codelco (Copper Corporation) and it is very important for Chile because it gives many holdings for the State budget to build roads, public hospitals, schools, bridges, etc.

The mine is a mountain in which they have been digging an amphitheatre ( like a huge stadium with its galleries) about 2.900 meters high. The trucks that carry the materials have a capacity of 70 tonels and the wheels are higher than a person.
