Camera Phone Filter for the Color Blind

Color deficient sometimes is called color blind while in fact it is very rare that one is completely "blind" to a color. However the percentage of color deficient is very high. 8% in Caucasian, 5% in Asian and 4% in African males are so-called "red-green" colorblind. 

This page contains a small piece of software designed for the camera phone user who is color deficient i.e. insensitive to red, green or blue colors. The software filters the camera captured image in real time by swapping color channels. For example, the red channel is swapped with blue for "red-green" color deficient visions. The following figure demonstrates how the software enhances the image for the color deficient people to read.

Simple Usage:

Most functions are on the joy stick keys.

Left Arrow: swap color channels, there are four modes for normal and red, green, blue deficients.

Up Arrow: Zoom-in

Down Arrow: Zoom-out

Center: Capture (note that the captured image is not filtered and keeps its original color)

Foot note: the S60 program is modified from the camera app example given by Forum Nokia. Windows Mobile version is being developed, send me emails if you would like me to develop faster. iPhone and Gphone support are also planned but it depends on when iPhone and Gphone open native development.
