Welcome

The Center for Young Children (CYC) is a full day lab preschool and kindergarten program located at the University of Maryland, College Park Maryland for children ages 3 – 6. From our demographic profile, CYC has an international student body representing over 25 different countries.

The CYC has been moving forward to become a model “Green” school as members of the University of Maryland community. The University is committed to green status and sustainability issues. At CYC we work to assess our usage of water, paper, and food. As a school we observed how we could conserve. Then we purchased reusable utensils and plates and replaced toilets and sinks with low flow toilets and wave water faucets. We strive to learn and behave in eco friendly ways. For the Center for Young Children one of our goals is to have the youngest “Terps” attend a green school and develop lifelong conservation behaviors. With our international population, we hope to teach conservation practiced globally.
