The Kangaroo lives in the grasslands of Australia, New Guinea, New Zealand and on Neighboring islands. They eat weeds and grass. The kangaroo is a vegetarian. An adult kangaroo is about 5 feet tall. The tail of a kangaroo is about 4 feet long. A baby kangaroo is called a joey. When it is born it is about the size of your thumb! There are four different kinds of kangaroos. Their names are Gray, Red, Tree and Rat kangaroo. They have short front paws and their tails help them keep their balance when they leap. They can weigh as much as 500 pounds. All kangaroos have soft woolly fur and sharp nails on both their front and hind legs. Only females have pouches to carry their young. They can live up to 23 years in the wild. They are marsupials. Another name for a kangaroo is a wallaby. My Beanie Baby is Pouch the Kangaroo. She was born on November 6, 1995. Pouch is the only Beanie Baby with two animals in one. Pouch is brown.
